The 2009 Book List

I didn’t get to read as many books as I normally do in any given year – mainly due to being laid off and not having regular lunch hours. However, 2009 was the year of the audiobook – ALL of these books, save the first one, were listened to in the car or via my MP3 player. This was also the year of the epic novel – I read three books that were 36 discs long – which is the size of three “normal” novels. So I guess in that regard you could *almost* say that I read close to 24 books, as opposed to 19. If we said that, I would be on track with my normal book-reading rates. Anyway, on to the list:

1. Nora Roberts – The Pagan Stone Rating: ***

2. Lisa See – Peony in Love Rating: **** 1/2

3. Brian Selznick – The Invention of Hugo Cabret Rating: ****

4. Jodi Picoult – My Sister’s Keeper Rating: *** 1/2

5. Khaled Hosseini – A Thousand Splendid Suns Rating: *****

6. Orson Scott Card – Speaker For The Dead Rating: ****
