Actually, it was only four years ago today, but on July 3rd and 4th, 2001 Denis and I officially moved into our first house. We moved all the big stuff on July 3rd but on July 4th we did the “real” moving. It was a fun day because we had 12-15 of our friends help us schlep over a U-Haul filled with our junk. Yes, our friends helped us move on a national holiday. God Bless ‘Em. They also let us pack their trunks with our stuff. We caravaned through Queens, Manhattan and finally through Jersey and parked in front of our house, and in what seemed like a matter of mere minutes had everything in the house. We then ordered pizza and brought in beer to reward our friends.
They oohed and aahed over the place (despite the horrific evergreen carpeting and floral wallpaper in every room), gushed over our large backyard and agreed that the neighborhood looked like a good one.
And it has been. Four years later we love our neighbors, cherish our neighborhood, found an amazing church, had two beautiful children and have built a family in this house. The house that became our home.
