Mmmmm….Pizza. And a Giveaway Contest!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of FRESCHETTA® for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I love pizza, and if I could get away with it, I’d eat it every day.  It’s that yummy.  My only problem is that I’ve been known to go overboard and eat 3-4 slices in one sitting on a “bad” day (depending on your outlook).  It was with great pleasure that I accepted an invitation to try the new FRESCHETTA By the Slice pizza now available in grocery stores nationwide.

Freschetta pizza by the sliceThe by-the-slice option is fantastic.  This way I can enjoy some pizza without downing 1000s of calories at once.  I debated which flavor to try (they have BBQ Recipe Chicken, Vegetable Medley, Chicken, Spinach & Mushroom … continue on, dear reader!

Debating the DVD

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Alvin and the Chipmunks. All opinions are 100% mine.

It’s no secret that the Cootiehog household loves the Chipmunks. Denis still owns all of the Chipmunk albums from when he was a kid, and when the Chipmunks movie came out a few years ago we bought it for the kids, who promptly fell in love with it and watched it no less than 1,000 times (they have seen it so many times they can quote it). So now the “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel” DVD/Blu-ray is coming out and I’m debating whether to get it for the kids. We saw the movie when it came out a few months ago and liked … continue on, dear reader!

A Single Remote Would Be Nice

remotesI have a nightly battle with our remote controls in the TV room. The kids think of them as toys, so they tend to get lost in the shuffle with their REAL toys. I invariably have to turn to Denis and ask, “Have you seen the volume remote?” (that seems to be the one that goes missing the most).

When we go out of town, I have to write notes for the house/dog sitter so they know how to work the entertainment system. We have six remotes.  If you look at that picture, from left to right we have the Blu-Ray remote, the sound remote, the VCR remote, the DVR/cable remote, the DVD remote and the TV remote.  For a while we had labels on … continue on, dear reader!

Happy Blu Year!

Contest alert!  Wanna spend New Year’s Eve in New York?  Or maybe you want to see the X Games in Aspen.  Or perhaps Lollapolooza in Chicago?  Can I interest you in the Richard Petty Driving Experience in Orlando?  Those are the five prizes being offered up at BluFrog right now. You can enter up to three times using a variety of methods – including Twitter!

As for me, you’d think I’d choose to go to a city I’ve never been to before (like Chicago or Aspen), but in truth, I’d totally take the opportunity to go to New York for New Year’s Eve. Even just for a weekend. It’s a great way to spend the holiday (in all the years we lived there, we NEVER … continue on, dear reader!

It’s Not That I Don’t Like Them, But…

I try not to use Google for my searches. Is that weird? In any event, it’s the truth – I like using smaller search engines if at all possible and can usually find the information I need pretty quickly even without Google’s help.

Picture_4One smaller search engine that I think has real potential is PeopleJar, which is a new search engine that kind of operates like social networking. It is a search engine that focuses on finding PEOPLE rather than just general information. For instance, if I want a plumber, then rather than type in a few keywords and finding generic information about plumbers before having to burrow down and try to find an actual local plumber that I can contact, I can do … continue on, dear reader!

Vacuuming With Cooper The Dog

No, I’m not saying Cooper The Dog vacuums the house – just the opposite, in fact. He runs in fear from the vacuum. Perhaps it’s because he’s so deathly afraid that I could create a brand new dog out of all the dog hair I vacuum out of our rugs. That boy sheds like no other dog I know (and don’t even get me started on how much he smells after being outside on a hot humid afternoon)! There’s a website called Dinovite that has you answer a few questions in their solutions center . Once done it makes a recommendation on how to cure the ailments (in our case, shedding and summer stinkiness).

Supposely dogs who shed don’t do it because it’s part of … continue on, dear reader!

Not My Typical Vacation

While we were at the beach a couple weeks ago, my mom joked that the next extended family vacation should be to Branson, Missouri. I scoffed at the notion, but a part of me admits to being intrigued – after all, Branson is a hot spot for vacationers in this country. I’ve never been to Missouri (other than possibly driving through on our way from California to Virginia in the early 1980s), so I have only my own projections on what the city may be like. As such, when I think of Branson, I don’t think of swanky – but the Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing certainly looks like the very definition! This Hilton features the Payne Stewart Golf Club. And the Hilton Branson Convention continue on, dear reader!

Birthday Gifts Galore

CootieBoy is constantly telling me what he wants for his birthday. Typically it’s based on whatever he happens to see on TV the minute before.

“Mama! I want Pixos!”

“Mama – I went Bendaroos!”

“Mama – I want a Big City Slider!”

And I always nod and say, “We’ll see. We’ll see.”

He likes all kinds of toys, from building blocks, cars and trains, to all sorts of MEGA Brands sets. MEGA Brands has a lot of great toys for really reasonable prices – and they are perfect for the kids who wants a brand-specific thing. Does your daughter collect Dora the Explorer? They have it. Does your son like the movie “Cars?” Done! I like one stop shopping. The site also has the ability … continue on, dear reader!

The Best Gift a Mother Could Give

A random regret for you. When I gave birth to CG and CB I didn’t donate or bank the cord blood. I think I debated over it very briefly, but never took the time to make a conscious decision – and therefore the decision was made for me. I didn’t do it. I don’t even remember if I was asked about it when I was in the hospital about to give birth (I may have been asked though – I was pretty hopped up on drugs during both deliveries).

As mother’s day rolls around, I know a lot of women who are due to give birth in the next few months, and thought that a neat way to celebrate Mother’s Day would be to mention … continue on, dear reader!

On the Beach? Off the Beach? It Makes a Difference

So I got my dress that I’ll be wearing to my cousin’s wedding later this month. It’s not a perfect fit, but what is? It’ll do for this particular event. So now I’m debating on what to do for shoes. The problem is that I don’t know if the wedding is going to be on the beach, or on the hotel property where the reception will be. On the invitation they are both listed, but the hotel is on the beach, so it’s possible we’ll all be standing in the sand while the bride and groom say their I do’s.

So what to wear? Part of me thinks I should take two options with me, so that if the wedding IS on the beach, I … continue on, dear reader!

Heading to Florida? Check Out Manta!

When my family went to Florida last year we didn’t go to Sea World. We felt that the kids just weren’t old enough to truly get our money’s worth out of the side trip to the park. However, next time we go there (2011? 2012?) they will be plenty eold enough to really enjoy Sea World a lot.

I’m a sucker for rides, and SeaWorld has a new ride opening next month (on May 22, to be exact), called “Manta.” Just the pictures alone make it look awesome.

Right now SeaWorld is doing a promotion where you can win a “Front-of-the-line” pass to ride Manta. And the way to do it is really easy. They have six activities listed on the website, from … continue on, dear reader!

Nothing Beats a Free Vacation

Last year our family went to Disney on vacation. We pretty much stuck with the Disney properties throughout the entire trip, but I think next time our family goes down (2011? 2012?) we’ll take more side trips to non-theme park places like Kissimmee. Denis and I like to walk around cute little downtown areas and explore art galleries or quirky shops. You can’t do that in Mouseville. There’s also not much history to be had in Orlando, whereas going away from that area might provide cheaper (or even free) entertainment by way of historical home tours (which I love taking), or having breakfast at the eatery that only the locals know about.

Have you ever been to Kissimmee? I know it’s close to Orlando, … continue on, dear reader!

Charter Your Way To An HDTV

-1Looking to switch cable companies? I’ve read a slew of posts lately from bloggers who are making switches for various reasons. How about the opportunity to win a 22″ HDTV flat screen? Is that a good reason?

Charter Communications is trying to meet the increasing demand for hi-def programming and fun contests all at the same time. They are currently offering customers who order services at a chance to win a 22” flat screen HDTV every day throughout April. This contest is open to both new and upgrading customers and yes – they ARE giving away one tv a day, every day, in April. In addition to the 22″ tv, Charter is also giving away an even bigger prize – a grand prize package … continue on, dear reader!

Walk A Mile, Help Someone

So there is this REALLY cool walking program that I wanted to tell you about. Bumble Bee Foods is donating $0.15/mile for every mile logged at a website called BeeWell Miles. They are raising up to $200,000 to help Breast Cancer Network of Strength which is an organization that provides emotional support to those who suffer from cancer.

The promotion is running from April 1 – October 31, 2009. I thought I’d post about it in case there are runners out there who want to log in their daily runs and help add to the coffers – they are donating money for up to 1,000,000 miles.

I joined the website yesterday (I was only able to log 1/2 a mile once I signed on … continue on, dear reader!

I Love a Good Sale!

I don’t go shopping for clothes very often. And when I do I’m always trying to find dirt cheap prices. When we lived in NJ there was a shop near our house that offered GREAT cheap prices on kids’ clothing. Since moving to South Carolina we have basically stocked up on clothes during two trips to NJ and via Christmas presents from my family! It’s VERY rare for us to go out and get the kids clothes. However, right now Sears is hosting a sale from now through April 18th – with prices up to 75-80% off original prices for all fall and winter clothing.

You may think it strange to even THINK of buying fall/winter clothing when summer is on the way – but … continue on, dear reader!
