So yesterday and this afternoon I never got around to posting my predictions and opinions on last night’s American Idol.
Marque was the only good male singer, but I don’t think he was good enough. Erskine and especially that guy Matthew just didn’t make the grade. In fact, when I saw that Matthew made it into the final 32 I was shocked because I was NOT impressed with him in the earlier episodes.
All of the women were fabulous and it’s a shame that only two get to move to the next round. It seems a given that Fantasia will make it in – if only because Simon liked her so much. As for me, I felt she bounced too much. She did this little triple-bob all during her song that got REALLY annoying and I’m sure the cameraman was cursing her name the whole time. So, if she makes it to the next round, I shall call her FantaBounce.
So now we have the remaining four women. Diana was good – but once Katie sang I felt the competition was over. Katie is the one that sang the jazz song. She did an outstanding job. If she makes it, I shall call her JazzGirl. But will she make it? Sure, Ashley looked like a rodeo reject, but she did a fabulous version of a gorgeous Patsy Cline song. Her talent was obvious. I thought Jennifer’s rendition of “Imagine” was decent – but I agree that her voice is “better” than the performance she gave last night.
Who I think will go forward: Fantasia and Diana (with Matthew in third)
Who I think SHOULD go forward: JazzGirl and Ashley
In other news: Make sure you tune in to “Angel” tonight at 9 p.m. and watch the show officially jump the shark as Angel battles Nazis in WWII while Spike is held hostage on a German sub. Ridiculous.
