Movie: Taxi

Posted on | October 10, 2004 | 1 Comment

Gladys and I went to see “Taxi” today, starring Jimmy Fallon and Queen Latifah. Now, bear in mind that I love Jimmy Fallon – he was my favorite on Saturday Night Live for a long time. And I just adore Queen Latifah – she’s beautiful for one thing, and extremely funny. So put those two together in a movie and I’m there.

Can I just say I was happily surprised that I found “Taxi” to be pretty good? Now, it’s not exceptional comedy, but it IS basic comedy and considering it had a lot of incredibly bad plotholes I still liked it and plan on getting the DVD when it’s released. Gladys and I laughed through the whole thing.

In particular, I just think those two had great chemistry together and I hope they make another movie together. The nitrous oxide scene alone had tears of laughter streaming down my face. I can’t wait to buy the DVD and see the outtakes and deleted scenes that have to be laying on a cutting room floor somewhere.

I can’t wait to own Star Wars when it comes out on DVD. Oh, wait! It has come out. Whoo Hoo!!! Just kidding. I can hold off on buying it on DVD — for now. We own enough versions of it on video tape.

Glad you and Gladys liked the movie. Hope she’s doing well and happy in VA. We miss her up here in NYC. I know, I’m in NJ.
